Peter Stengaard - Producer/Songwriter/Artist Development
About

I was born and raised in Denmark and only a few years old when I picked up my first instrument, the guitar. I learned my way around a piano quickly too and just started playing songs that I should have been way to young to care about at the time. Was not a huge fan of pop music in the 80′s but I wore out a cassette of “The White Album”. I played in bands from I was 14 and eventually ended up attending and graduating from “The Royal Academy of Music” in Denmark, fancy stuff. I started spending a lot of time writing and recording and eventually moved to London for a year to get inspired by the scene there. As technology evolved it became exciting to record in my own home and I’ve been a home recording pioneer since I got my hands on an Atari computer so long ago i don’t even remember when. On a trip to Los Angeles I was all of a sudden approached by people at the top of the music industry by simply having sent out a few cd’s and mp3′s. I returned to L.A to live a few months after my trip and have been here since then and worked with some of the most amazing artists on the planet. I’m extremely grateful to everyone I’ve worked with along the way and everyone who helped me along the way.
I’m inspired by all genres of music and used to think that was a problem until i learned that being versatile is a strength and that there’s no limit to how many things you can learn if you really apply yourself. In the same way as I used to think I should just focus on one instrument, then realized how much I learned about the instrument I was focusing on by studying the all the other ones.
Now, a lot of the work I do involves writing, recording, playing most instruments, programming, engineering, many times singing background vocals or leads to demo phrasing, and mixing records.
Here’s my list of biggest influences in random order. As you can see, stylistically it makes no sense. I’m a lover of music, not any genre in particular.
The Beatles, Elvis, Nine Inch Nails, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, MJ, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Imogen Heap, The Mills Brothers, AC/DC, Trevor Horn, Whitney Houston, Garbage, Chemical Brothers, Donna Summer, Daft Punk, Bach, Sting/Police, Nirvana, Dolly Parton and many many more…
